Rule of Law
Some activities include:
Seminars for judges of first instance courts and appellate courts:
Training for judges is being coordinated. Based on needs assessments from previous Rule of Law coordination meetings, ABA-CEELI and EU/BIRD, will implement a series of seminars nationwide, complementing discussion seminars for judges done by other implementers. The seminars will be held by judges, based on a methodology, with material, approved by a faculty consisting of Supreme Court Judges, MPs, members of CEC, members of the Association of Judges, and academicians, among others.
Assistance in the realization of the voting rights of Ukrainian citizens living abroad:
This project is being implemented by the Election Law Institute, the All-Ukrainian NGOs “Ukrainian Mutual Aid,” and “Christian Democratic Youth of Ukraine,” the Secretariat of the Freedom of Choice coalition of NGOs, and the Ukrainian Reform Support Foundation. The main purpose is to provide a large number of Ukrainian citizens (approximately 4-7 million) who are living abroad, legally or illegally, with the possibility of understanding their legal right to vote. Good cooperation and support of the relevant authorities, including the OSCE will also be ensured.
Legal Assistance:
The objective of this project is to provide assistance to citizens so that they will be informed about their legal rights as voters and the judicial system relating to the election process. This will be achieved by referring to existing legal aid structures, such as regional legal consulting centers, under the guidance of the Ministry of Justice, advocacy centers and legal clinics.
Translation of election laws:
For use in the High Level Working Group and among partners, through coordination activities, newly enacted election laws have been translated to English. The translated laws are available under the translated legal documents section or here.
