ODESSA, 28 May 2004 - The Committee of Voters of Ukraine (CVU) held a roundtable on Friday May 28, 2004 in Odessa entitled “International Standards of Democratic Elections – Methods of Adherence during Election Campaigns in Ukraine.” Some of the issues on the agenda included: election laws of Ukraine and their conformity to international norms, standards of democratic elections and the importance of attaining them during local elections, and methods of encouraging objective and balanced media coverage.

Representatives of state agencies in Odessa and the local Odessa state government participated in the round table. In addition, members of the Territorial Election Commission, candidates, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, experts, NGOs, as well as nationwide and local media participated in the event.
